SCCFR to Hire Deputy Chief of EMS and Career Services

Southern Chester County Fire Rescue (SCCFR) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Chief of EMS to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the Fire Chief, this management-level position provides leadership and administrative oversight of EMS operations, ambulance billing, quality assurance/quality improvement, human resources, payroll, career staffing, and departmental support.

The Deputy Chief will work closely with the Medical Director, department personnel, municipal partners, and other emergency service agencies. Responsibilities include overseeing EMS billing and documentation, analyzing and reporting EMS data, coordinating QA/QI initiatives, managing recruitment and personnel functions, developing career staffing schedules, and supporting departmental budgeting, policies, and programs. The position will also provide operational and incident support, emergency medical, fire suppression, and rescue services as needed, as well as represent SCCFR at community and professional events.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced EMS leader with strong ambulance billing, personnel management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to lead and mentor personnel in both routine and high-stress environments.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in healthcare, business management, public administration, or a related field preferred. • Pennsylvania Department of Health EMT-B certification or higher. • Minimum five years of 9-1-1 EMS experience preferred. • Minimum three years of EMS agency management experience preferred. • Strong ambulance billing experience. • Valid driver's license with verifiable driving record. • Current healthcare provider CPR and instructor certification. • Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator credential. • FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800. • PHTLS/ITLS and advanced EMS certifications preferred.

The Deputy Chief will also be responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all applicable EMS, privacy, employment, and departmental policies. This is a full-time, 40 hours a week, exempt, management-level position with emergency callback availability. Competitive salary based on qualification, employer paid health insurance for employee, PTO and retirement plan with employer match up to 3%.
